# names

Check whether a registry name is available

## Usage

```
ionosctl container-registry names [flags]
```

## Aliases

For `container-registry` command:

```
[cr contreg cont-reg]
```

For `names` command:

```
[check name n]
```

## Description

Check whether a desired registry name is still free. Registry names are globally unique across all IONOS customers because they form the public hostname, so this check should be run before 'container-registry registry create'.

A valid name is 3-63 characters, lowercase letters/digits/dashes only, starting with a letter and ending with a letter or digit (regex ^\[a-z]\[-a-z0-9]{1,61}\[a-z0-9]$). The command reports whether the name is available, already taken, or invalid.
