# Start a Cloud GPU VM

Starting a Cloud GPU VM powers on the instance and makes it operational. While the DCD starts newly created VMs automatically, you can use this operation to restart a stopped VM. Once the VM starts, the resources are allocated, billing resumed, and a public IP address assigned if previously configured.

To start a Cloud GPU VM, follow these steps:

1\. In the **DCD**, go to **Menu** > **Virtual Data Centers**.

2\. Select the data center where the Cloud GPU VM is configured.

3\. Select the respective Cloud GPU VM in the Workspace.

4\. On the Inspector pane, select **Power** > **Start**.

5\. Select **Apply START** in the **Power State** dialog.

6\. Select **PROVISION CHANGES**.

7\. In the **Provision Data Center** dialog, select **Confirm**.

8\. In the **Confirm Starting and Stopping of Servers** dialog, enter your **Password**, and select **OK**.

**Result:** The DCD displays a **Provisioning Complete** notification once the Cloud GPU VM powers on. The Inspector pane shows the status as **Running**. If you enabled a public IP address, the system assigns the address and resumes billing.
