Reset a Confidential VM
Resetting a Confidential VM forces it to shut down and restart immediately. The full AMD SEV-SNP hardware-enforced startup sequence runs again on reset, generating a new memory encryption key. If attestation is configured, the attestation flow is repeated on startup.
Important: A reset forces the Confidential VM to shut down without a graceful OS-level shutdown, which may result in data loss. To avoid data loss, shut down the VM from within the operating system before resetting.
To reset a Confidential VM, follow these steps:
1. In the DCD, go to Menu > Virtual Data Centers.
2. Select the data center where the Confidential VM is configured.
3. Select the respective Confidential VM in the Workspace.
4. In the Inspector pane, select Power > Reset. Optionally, you can also right-click on the VM and choose Power > Reset.

5. In the Power State dialog, select Apply RESET.
6. Provision your changes and enter your password to confirm.
Result: The Confidential VM shuts down and restarts. Resetting the guest re-triggers the entire hardware-enforced AMD SEV-SNP restart sequence, with the attestation flow if configured.
