Deploy Red Hat OpenShift Workloads on IONOS Cloud

IONOS and Red Hat worked collaboratively to validate Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform running on IONOS Cloud. The resulting deployment guide is a reference implementation for Red Hat Certified Cloud Service Providers (CCSP) to create managed services with Red Hat OpenShift for their customers' workloads on IONOS Cloud. Red Hat has attested that the IONOS Cloud infrastructure meets all the necessary requirements to operate Red Hat OpenShift workloads. IONOS and Red Hat also defined a support model, which will help ensure Red Hat CCSP partners get the needed support for their Red Hat OpenShift deployments on IONOS Cloud.

Benefits of Red Hat OpenShift

Red Hat OpenShift is a leading container application platform that provides a secure and scalable way to deploy and manage containerized applications. The benefits of using Red Hat OpenShift include:

  • Improved scalability and flexibility: Red Hat OpenShift allows partners to scale their applications up or down as needed easily, and provides a flexible platform for deploying a wide range of containerized workloads.

  • Enhanced security: Red Hat OpenShift provides a secure platform for deploying containerized applications, with built-in features such as network policies, secret management, and role-based access control.

  • Streamlined application development and deployment: Red Hat OpenShift provides a streamlined platform for developing and deploying containerized applications, with features such as automated build and deployment and integrated logging and monitoring.

  • Support for multi-cloud and hybrid environments: Red Hat OpenShift provides a consistent platform for deploying containerized applications across multiple clouds and on-premises environments, facilitating efficient application deployment and management across multiple environments.

Features of Red Hat OpenShift

Some of the key features of Red Hat OpenShift include:

  • Kubernetes-based container orchestration: Red Hat OpenShift is built on top of Kubernetes, providing a scalable and secure way to deploy and manage containerized applications.

  • Integrated developer tools: Red Hat OpenShift provides a range of integrated developer tools, including support for languages such as Java, Python, and Node.js, and tools for building, testing, and deploying containerized applications.

  • Automated build and deployment: Red Hat OpenShift provides automated build and deployment capabilities, simplifying and accelerating application deployment.

  • Integrated logging and monitoring: Red Hat OpenShift provides integrated logging and monitoring capabilities, simplifying the tracking and troubleshooting of application performance.

Set Up Red Hat OpenShift on IONOS Cloud

To set up Red Hat OpenShift on IONOS Cloud, Red Hat CCSP partners can follow the instruction guidelines provided by Red Hat and IONOS. This guideline provides step-by-step instructions for deploying and configuring a Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform Cluster on IONOS Cloud.

Download the instruction guidelines:

Important:

  • To ensure that any Red Hat OpenShift deployment is properly validated and supported, Red Hat CCSP partners must schedule a validation with Red Hat through an IONOS representative. This validation ensures that the Red Hat OpenShift deployment meets all the requirements for production use.

  • Furthermore, Red Hat CCSP partners must accept the Red Hat and IONOS OpenShift Support Workflow process. A description of the process is provided, upon request, to partners. If you have further questions or require additional support, contact IONOS Cloud Support.

Red Hat OpenShift Infrastructure Pricing

For resources deployed in Red Hat OpenShift infrastructures, IONOS will apply the regular resource fees according to the current price list. There will be no additional handling for Red Hat OpenShift.

IONOS does not sell or charge for Red Hat OpenShift subscriptions. Partners must provide these subscriptions themselves and pay the price according to Red Hat's or the individual subscription distributor's price list.

Limitations of deploying Red Hat OpenShift on IONOS Cloud

While IONOS Cloud provides a validated infrastructure for running Red Hat OpenShift workloads, there are some limitations to be aware of:

  • No managed Red Hat OpenShift solution: IONOS does not provide a managed Red Hat OpenShift solution, which means that Red Hat CCSP partners are responsible for deploying and managing their own Red Hat OpenShift clusters.

  • Validation required: Before deploying Red Hat OpenShift in production mode, partners must:

    • Validate their setup with Red Hat by scheduling it through an IONOS representative.

    • Formally review and accept the Red Hat and IONOS OpenShift support workflow process.

  • Partners' responsibility for deployment and management: Red Hat CCSP partners are responsible for deploying and managing their own Red Hat OpenShift clusters, which requires container orchestration and management expertise.
