# PostgreSQL v1 How-Tos

**Important:**

* Use **PostgreSQL v2** to create clusters and take advantage of its new features. You can create v2 clusters using either the [<mark style="color:blue;">DCD</mark>](/cloud/databases/postgresql/how-tos/v2.md) or the [<mark style="color:blue;">API</mark>](https://api.ionos.com/docs/postgresql/v2/).
* Creation of clusters using **PostgreSQL v1** is deprecated through the [<mark style="color:blue;">DCD</mark>](/cloud/databases/postgresql/how-tos/v1.md) and only limited operations are supported on legacy clusters.
* Creating v1 clusters through the [<mark style="color:blue;">API</mark>](/cloud/databases/postgresql/api/v1-api.md) is deprecated as of **July 15, 2026**.
* Existing v1 clusters will be automatically migrated to the new v2 infrastructure starting **July 29, 2026**. No user action is required and we will notify you before the migration.
