# Upgrade Cross Connect to the Latest Version

We recommend upgrading your existing version of the Cross Connect to its latest version. The latest version of the feature comes with additional capabilities that will allow you to connect all VDCs in the same region.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** Remember that upgrading the feature may result in a downtime of less than five minutes and you may also encounter a network drop during this time.
{% endhint %}

You can either upgrade a Cross Connect from the Inspector pane or via the **Manage Cross Connects** window.

## Upgrade from the Inspector pane

To upgrade from the Inspector pane, follow these steps:

1\. In the DCD, go to **Menu** > **Virtual Data Centers**.

2\. Select the VDC, which is connected to other VDCs via the Cross Connect, from the list.

3\. Choose the Cross Connect element on the Workspace to view its properties in the Inspector pane.

4\. Click **Upgrade**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.ionos.com/cloud/network-services/cross-connect/how-tos/upgrade.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
