## What's new

### [**Additional Data Center is now operational in Frankfurt, Germany**](https://docs.ionos.com/cloud/support/general-information/service-catalog)

{% hint style="success" %}
**August 18**

space.vars.ionos\_cloud
has launched a new data center, `de/fra/1`, in the **Frankfurt** region. It is directly networked to the existing `de/fra` and `de/fra/2` locations, ensuring high availability, failover redundancy, and operational security. The data center runs on Intel Sierra Forest and AMD EPYC Turin processors.

The new data center appears in the [Data Center Designer (DCD)](/cloud/set-up-ionos-cloud/data-center-designer.md) location selector as **Germany / Frankfurt am Main (de/fra/1)** and is available via the [Cloud API](https://api.ionos.com/docs/cloud/v6/) as `de/fra/1`.

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Important:**

* The `de/fra/1` support for [Confidential VM](/cloud/compute-services/compute-engine/confidential-computing-vm.md) and [MongoDB](/cloud/databases/mongodb.md) will be available soon. For more information, see [Service Catalog](https://docs.ionos.com/cloud/support/general-information/service-catalog).
* All
space.vars.ionos\_cloud
services are supported in `de/fra/1`, except for [Cloud GPU VMs](/cloud/compute-services/compute-engine/cloud-gpu-vm.md).
 {% endhint %}
 {% endhint %}

### [**Introducing IONOS CLOUD Tracing Service**](/cloud/observability/tracing-service.md)

{% hint style="success" %}
**August 17**

space.vars.ionos\_cloud
**Tracing Service** is now available. It provides a centralized and scalable solution for collecting, storing, and analyzing distributed traces from your applications, services, and infrastructure.

Create a tracing pipeline to receive an authenticated ingestion endpoint for your traces. Each pipeline supports OTLP/HTTP and OTLP/gRPC ingestion protocols, a trace ingestion key, and a Grafana endpoint for trace exploration. The service stores traces for a 30-day retention period. Billing is based on trace ingestion volume (GB) and trace storage (GB).
{% endhint %}

### [**Advisory on CrackArmor Vulnerability**](/cloud/security-safeguards/vulnerability-register/2026/ubuntu-crack-armor-vulnerability.md)

{% hint style="success" %}
**August 13**

Information on the security advisory for **CrackArmor** is now available in the documentation portal. Disclosed on March 19, 2026, this vulnerability affects [Managed Kubernetes](/cloud/containers/managed-kubernetes.md) node images and allows an attacker with code execution inside a container to escape the container boundary and gain access to the underlying host operating system.

space.vars.ionos\_cloud
has applied updated Managed Kubernetes node images across all regions to mitigate the vulnerability.
{% endhint %}

### [**OTLP support for Logging Service and Monitoring Service**](/cloud/observability/logging-service/overview/log-pipelines.md)

{% hint style="success" %}
**August 13**

space.vars.ionos\_cloud
**Logging Service** and **Monitoring Service** now support the OpenTelemetry Protocol (OTLP) for ingesting telemetry data.

* **Logging Service:** Create a log stream with `"protocol": "otlp"` to ingest logs at the pipeline's `/<TAG>` endpoint. An OTLP stream requires only `tag` and `protocol`. You can mix `otlp`, `http`, and `tcp` streams within the same pipeline. For more information, see [Log Pipelines](/cloud/observability/logging-service/overview/log-pipelines.md).
* **Monitoring Service:** Push metrics in OTLP format to the pipeline's `/otlp/v1/metrics` endpoint. Metrics are ingested directly without conversion to the Prometheus remote-write format. OpenTelemetry exponential histograms sent over OTLP are queryable as Prometheus native histograms in Grafana. For more information, see [Metric Formats](/cloud/observability/monitoring-service/overview/metric-formats.md).
 {% endhint %}

### [**Introducing Confidential VM**](/cloud/compute-services/compute-engine/confidential-computing-vm.md)

{% hint style="success" %}
**August 12**

space.vars.ionos\_cloud
supports **Confidential VM**, a hardware-enforced security technology that encrypts virtual machine (VM) memory and CPU state at runtime using AMD SEV-SNP (Secure Encrypted Virtualization, Secure Nested Paging), ensuring that **data in use** remains protected from the cloud provider, hypervisor, and host administrators. Workloads run inside a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), where sensitive data and code are cryptographically isolated within the AMD CPU and inaccessible to unauthorized users even at the infrastructure level.

Organizations handling regulated data, including financial services, healthcare, and public sector workloads, can use
space.vars.ionos\_cloud
Confidential VMs to meet zero-trust security requirements and enforce data sovereignty. Confidential VMs can be attested using the
space.vars.ionos\_cloud
reference toolchain. For more information, see [SNPGuard](https://github.com/ionos-cloud/snp-guard).
{% endhint %}

### [**Product approval process is now live for IONOS CLOUD Partners**](https://docs.ionos.com/cloud/partner-program)

{% hint style="success" %}
**August 6**

To improve the
space.vars.ionos\_cloud
partner experience and help ensure compliance with [Marketplace](https://docs.ionos.com/cloud/partner-program/partner-program/marketplace) guidelines, the
space.vars.ionos\_cloud
Marketplace now includes a product approval process.

Before publishing a product to the Marketplace, partners with an active [Partner Network](https://docs.ionos.com/cloud/partner-program/partner-program/partner-network) profile submit a product approval request through the [Partner Portal](https://docs.ionos.com/cloud/partner-program/partner-portal-first-steps/complete-your-partner-profile#sign-in-to-the-partner-portal). The Account Management team reviews each request and publishes approved products to the Marketplace, providing a rejection reason if a request is not approved so partners can address the issue and resubmit. For more information, contact your dedicated Partner Account Manager.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.ionos.com/cloud/release-notes/august-2026.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
