### [<mark style="color:blue;">**DBaaS In-Memory DB v2 is now available in the DCD**</mark>](/cloud/databases/in-memory-db/how-tos/v2.md)

You can now create and manage <code class="expression">space.vars.ionos\_cloud</code> **DBaaS In-Memory DB v2** clusters in the Data Center Designer (DCD). In-Memory DB v2 is powered by [<mark style="color:blue;">Valkey</mark>](https://valkey.io/) (Redis®-compatible) in versions 8, 8.1, and 9. The DCD supports the full lifecycle of v2 clusters, including cluster creation, configuration updates, snapshot-based backup and restore, and metrics monitoring.

As part of this enhancement, new **DBaaS In-Memory DB v1** clusters can no longer be created in the **DCD**. Existing v1 clusters are displayed as **Legacy Clusters** and support only a limited set of operations. Qwen3.5 9B is a compact multimodal model from Alibaba Cloud's Qwen team, now available in the <code class="expression">space.vars.ionos\_cloud</code> AI Model Hub. Built on a hybrid attention architecture with 9B parameters, the model features a 262k-token context window and accepts both text and image inputs. It also offers advanced reasoning and tool calling, making it a fast and cost-efficient choice for conversational and agentic applications.

Qwen3.5 397B A17B is a large-scale Mixture-of-Experts model from Alibaba Cloud's Qwen team, now available in the <code class="expression">space.vars.ionos\_cloud</code> AI Model Hub. Combining 397B total parameters with 17B active parameters per token, the model features a 262k-token context window and accepts both text and image inputs. It also offers advanced reasoning and tool calling, making it well-suited for complex conversational and agentic applications.

The <code class="expression">space.vars.ionos\_cloud</code> **DBaaS MariaDB v2 API** is now in General Availability (GA). The v2 API is available across all nine <code class="expression">space.vars.ionos\_cloud</code> regions: Berlin, Frankfurt, Paris, Logroño, London, Worcester, Las Vegas, Lenexa, and Newark.

Any <code class="expression">space.vars.ionos\_cloud</code> contract can provision MariaDB v2 clusters without prior activation. The v2 API introduces token-based authentication (Bearer JWT), dedicated `BackupLocations` and `Versions` endpoints, Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR) through `restoreFromBackup` with `sourceBackupId` and `recoveryTargetDatetime`, configurable backup retention from 1 to 365 days through `backup.retentionDays`, and observability controls (`logsEnabled`, `metricsEnabled`). **Important:** The [<mark style="color:blue;">MariaDB v1 API</mark>](/cloud/databases/mariadb/api/v1-api.md) will be deprecated in an upcoming release. All existing v1 clusters will be automatically migrated to v2 with no user action needed. We recommend creating new clusters using MariaDB v2 [<mark style="color:blue;">endpoints</mark>](https://api.ionos.com/docs/mariadb/v2/) to leverage the new capabilities.

The guide covers the full process of migrating a v1 cluster to the v2 infrastructure, including automatic and manual migration details, schema preparation, data transfer using `pg_dump` and `psql`, and cutover validation.

It consolidates SDK documentation for Go, Java, Python, Ruby, and Node.js. The section also covers automation tooling for Ansible, Terraform, Pulumi, CLI, Crossplane, Docker Machine Driver, and n8n.

## Deprecations

Effective July 1, Event Streams for Apache Kafka versions 3.9.0 and 3.9.1 are deprecated. Existing Kafka clusters using these versions will continue to operate and are unimpacted by this change. However, we recommend using **version 4.0.0** for new Kafka clusters.
