What's new
DBaaS In-Memory DB v2 is now available in the DCD
July 27
You can now create and manage IONOS CLOUD DBaaS In-Memory DB v2 clusters in the Data Center Designer (DCD). In-Memory DB v2 is powered by Valkey (RedisĀ®-compatible) in versions 8, 8.1, and 9. The DCD supports the full lifecycle of v2 clusters, including cluster creation, configuration updates, snapshot-based backup and restore, and metrics monitoring.
As part of this enhancement, new DBaaS In-Memory DB v1 clusters can no longer be created in the DCD. Existing v1 clusters are displayed as Legacy Clusters and support only a limited set of operations. For migration guidance, see Migrate from In-Memory DB v1 to v2.

DBaaS MariaDB v2 API in General Availability
July 6
The IONOS CLOUD DBaaS MariaDB v2 API is now in General Availability (GA). The v2 API is available across all nine IONOS CLOUD regions: Berlin, Frankfurt, Paris, LogroƱo, London, Worcester, Las Vegas, Lenexa, and Newark.
Any IONOS CLOUD contract can provision MariaDB v2 clusters without prior activation. The v2 API introduces token-based authentication (Bearer JWT), dedicated BackupLocations and Versions endpoints, Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR) through restoreFromBackup with sourceBackupId and recoveryTargetDatetime, configurable backup retention from 1 to 365 days through backup.retentionDays, and observability controls (logsEnabled, metricsEnabled). For detailed information, see DBaaS MariaDB v2 Cloud API.
Support for Kafka version 4.0.0
July 1
Event Streams for Apache Kafka service will now support Kafka version 4.0.0 starting July 1, 2026.

The SDK and Tools section is now available on the IONOS CLOUD documentation portal. It consolidates SDK documentation for Go, Java, Python, Ruby, and Node.js. The section also covers automation tooling for Ansible, Terraform, Pulumi, CLI, Crossplane, Docker Machine Driver, and n8n.
Deprecations
Deprecation of Kafka version support 3.9.0 and 3.9.1
July 1
Effective July 1, Event Streams for Apache Kafka versions 3.9.0 and 3.9.1 are deprecated. Existing Kafka clusters using these versions will continue to operate and are unimpacted by this change. However, we recommend using version 4.0.0 for new Kafka clusters.
AI Model Studio End of Life
July 1
Effective July 1, IONOS CLOUD no longer supports AI Model Studio. The product has reached end of life and is no longer available. If you are looking for AI inference capabilities, see AI Model Hub.
