Security

Your IONOS account comes with a number of security features to protect you from unauthorized access.

These are:

  • a password protecting your IONOS account and crucial parts of your VDCs,

  • 2-factor authentication as an extra level of security added to your account and some of your resources,

  • a support PIN with which you identify yourself to our IONOS enterprise support team in the event of a support request.

Managing 2-factor authentication

2-factor authentication or "verification in 2 steps" serves to increase the security of your account. In addition to log-in credentials, this authentication method also requires a security code. Without this individual and temporary code generated by an app it is not possible to log on to your account and access your virtual resources.

2-factor authentication is only available in the DCD.

In addition to enabling access to resources for users of authorized groups only, data centers and snapshots can be even further protected by restricting access to users who have 2-factor authentication activated. Other users cannot see or select these resources - even if they belong to an authorized group.
