# VM Auto Scaling

IONOS Cloud VM Auto Scaling is a cloud computing feature that modifies the number of [Virtual Machine (VM)](https://docs.ionos.com/cloud/support/general-information/glossary-of-terms#virtual-machine-vm) instances in your [Virtual Data Center (VDC)](https://docs.ionos.com/cloud/support/general-information/glossary-of-terms#virtual-data-center-vdc) automatically based on changes in demand (or the load on your VM).

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Note:** VM Auto Scaling is currently in the [Early Access (EA)](https://docs.ionos.com/cloud/support/general-information/glossary-of-terms#early-access-ea) phase. We recommend keeping usage and testing to non-production critical applications. For more information, please contact your sales representative or customer support. EA rollout has its limitations. For more information, see [limitations](/cloud/network-services/vm-auto-scaling/overview/limitations.md).
