# MongoDB V2

Version 2 of the IONOS Cloud Database as a Service API lets you create and manage MongoDB clusters.

You can also manage backups and users through the API.

MongoDB is an open source, cross-platform, document-oriented database. It uses JSON-like documents with optional schemas.

The API and the Data Center Designer (DCD) use the same concepts, which keeps workflows consistent.
