# DCD How-Tos

With the DCD, you can manage primary and secondary zones and records via the graphical user interface.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Prerequisites:**

* To use the Cloud DNS, you need a domain name. If you do not already have one, register it with a domain registrar. To connect your domain with Cloud DNS, see [Connect Domain Name to Cloud DNS](https://docs.ionos.com/sections-test/guides/network-services/cloud-dns/api-how-tos/connect-domain-name-to-cloud-dns).
* By default, you must be an administrator or an owner to manage the Cloud DNS records and zones using the [Cloud DNS API](https://api.ionos.com/docs/dns/v1) and the [DCD](https://docs.ionos.com/cloud/support/general-information/glossary-of-terms#data-center-designer-dcd). Other users need [appropriate privileges](https://docs.ionos.com/sections-test/guides/network-services/cloud-dns/dcd-how-tos/set-user-privileges) to manage the records and zones.

**Note**: Advanced DNS management features like DNSSEC and Import/Export of zones is currently only supported via the [Cloud DNS API](https://api.ionos.com/docs/dns/v1).
